AS in previous years, people can now put forward nominations for Teignmouth Town Council’s Community Recognition Awards.
Mayor, Cllr Joan Atkins, is delighted to launch this year’s scheme.
‘In my travels, as Mayor, opening events, handing out awards for a variety of organisations and accepting invitations to visit others to see the work they do, or attending charity fundraisers, I have become increasingly aware of a huge body of unsung heroes in our Town’ Cllr Atkins said.
‘People who volunteer, raise funds, or help others with no expectation of reward and people who support the community with safe, warm spaces in the current climate of rising bills and colder weather and offer assistance with form filling, etc.
‘This is a real opportunity for people to nominate those that they feel so much gratitude to, that might otherwise go unnoticed’ Cllr Atkins added.
Nominations will be assessed by the Mayor and her deputy, Cllr Cate Williams and the Town Clerk.
Those who are successful will be invited with their family and friends to an awards ceremony later in March.
Nominations for the awards close on Sunday, March 3.
Forms can be found on the town council’s website, where there is a link to the nomination form at the bottom of the page.
The form also appears as the back page of the town council’s newsletter, Wavelength.
