PUPILS from six Devon schools flocked to Newton Abbot earlier this month for a Street Futsal Festival.

Youngsters from Canada Hill, Ipplepen, Kingskerswell, Marldon, St Catherine’s and Wolborough Primary Schools took part in the event in the town’s leisure centre.

Each team battled it out for a place in the final and Ogwell-based Canada Hill were crowned champions after beating St Catherine’s 2-1 in the final.

The event was organised by Newton Abbot College’s PE department.

Kingskerswell Primary School teacher Dale Sanders said: ‘The festival has given the children a great opportunity to develop skills in a fun environment.

‘The college’s students were really helpful, encouraging fair play, sportsmanship and fun.

‘We can’t wait to come back next year.’
