NEWTON Abbot YFC have been busy rounding off their last young farmers year.
The club held its annual dinner and dance at the Lavender House hotel in Ashburton.
We had a total of 150 people attend our event to celebrate the past year of success.
Club awards were presented to members for their dedication to the club over the past 12 months with Josh Quant (past chairman) winning best senior member and Tori Squire (vice secretary) winning best junior member – huge congratulations to them both.
The following week consisted of our new members evening being held on Tuesday evening at the Ashmoor centre in Ashburton.
We had a great turnout of present and new members attend with a total of 15 new members.
Everyone got involved with team building games and icebreaker activities.
It was great for new members to get to know what young farmers was really about and become aware of the extensive travel opportunities, speaking and sports competitions as well as stockjudging and socials!
On Friday we held our first lamb stock judging practice, again with great turnout and many new members got involved and learnt about the confirmation of lambs before writing speeches and reading these out to our judge and trainer.
