A WOMAN was killed when she was hit by a car as she fled across a dual carriageway from a heated argument with a man.
Tracy Wilson scaled a seven foot tall fence and ran across the dual carriageway including the central reservation barrier when she was struck by a car doing around the 50mph speed limit on a dark night.
Divorced care assistant Tracey, aged 48, of St Luke’s Road, Newton Abbot, suffered multiple injuries and was killed instantly by the impact.
An inquest heard she had been involved in a heated altercation with a man she knew at around 11pm on that night in July 2020.
The car driver told the Plymouth inquest that a woman ran out in front of his car from the central reservation side and he had no time to react.
He said: ‘She literally just appeared, running six to eight feet in front of my car. I had no time to brake.’
A local resident heard the woman say to the man ’leave me alone, leave me be’ during the row.
PC Lucy Tyler-Jones said Tracy, of Newton Abbot, crossed a substantial fence and central barrier and ran into the path of the car.
The coroner, Ian Arrow, recorded a narrative conclusion saying: ‘I am satisfied on the balance of probabilities that Tracy Wilson was engaged in an altercation that evening.
‘She scaled a fence, crossed a carriageway and crossed a central barrier and then has been in collision with an oncoming car.’
