Newton Abbot Racecourse Managing Director Patrick (Pat) Masterson is to retire at the end of the year.
Pat has worked at the racecourse for 35 years and has been managing director for the last 25 years. He will retire on December 31.
Having previously served with HM Armed Forces, Pat has seen the racecourse through a period of change in the racing industry.
‘The progression of Newton Abbot Racecourse under his management has been significant, as he negotiated our media rights and advocated forcefully for increased prize money and upgraded facilities at the racecourse, enhancing owners, trainers and racegoers’ raceday experience,’ a spokesperson for the Racecourse said.
As well as managing Newton Abbot racecourse, Pat has contributed to the wider UK racing industry by sitting on numerous industry Boards & Committees.
‘Pat will be missed by the board of directors, shareholders and staff at Newton Abbot Racecourse,’ the spokesperson added.
