Head on down to Decoy Park for a holiday adventure as Newton Abbot’s newly refurbished flagship play area has re-opened.

The revamped and newly equipped Decoy Play Park has a range of new and refurbished equipment and a replacement trim trail to the perimeter of Decoy Lake.

Teignbridge District Council carried out the work in partnership with Redlynch Leisure for the redesign and installation of the park, located within Decoy Country Park near the main entrance.

Cllr Andrew MacGregor, Executive Member for Leisure Services, said: ‘After over 15 years of use, we’re really pleased to have given this park a new lease of life, providing a robust and high quality playground for all ages and abilities – all in keeping with the beautiful Decoy Country Park setting.

‘The park gives local families and visitors access to green space, wildlife and opportunities for recreation and adventure – all on their doorstep.

The equipment and surfacing is themed around three play zones – toddler, junior and adventure, and the whole area has been landscaped to revitalise the area and create the feeling of a brand new play space.

A council spokesperson said: ‘The existing trim trail around the perimeter of the lake has been replaced with a new robust and attractive trail designed to fit in to the natural landscape setting.

‘The water play features within the existing wet play zone are currently being installed and will be operational once the testing has been safely completed – this is likely to be a couple of weeks after the opening of the main play park.’
