NEWTON Abbot Museum has received accreditation status from Arts Council England.

Nestled within Newton’s Place, the museum, via the organisations Twitter page, annouced it was ‘delighted’ at the news.

Founded in 1946, Art Council England has a wide remit, which includes everything from conducting research and promoting partnership to investing money from Government and the National Lottery to support arts and culture across England.

The UK Museum Accreditation Scheme is the UK industry standard for museums.

It helps everyone involved with a museum to do the right things, helping people to access and engage with collections, and protect them for future generations.

The Accreditation Scheme does this by ensuring museums manage their collections properly, engage with visitors, and are governed appropriately.
