WITH her two daughters by her side, a Newton Abbot mother is gearing up to host her third charity event, and it is to be extra special – for one girl is to say goodbye to her hair.

Balloon artist and event planner, Kerry Philips, who owns Three Little Kiwis, a businesses providing balloon arrangements and picnic and pamper parties, is gearing up for her third charity event - a MacMillan Coffee Morning, but one with a twist.

The twist came courtesy of Kerry’s daughters, Tallulah-Kiwi and Autumn-Rayne, who wanted to inject some fun into procedings, as such the event is billed as a Macmillan Coffee ‘Fun Day’.

‘My children have always shown an interest in hosting charity events from a young age,’ Kerry said.

‘Earlier this year they saw a TV advert of a Macmillan Coffee morning and ask if they can do one but with a bouncy castle and games!’ she added.

Newton Abbot Recreational Trust is to host the event, which takes place on August 29, and will see more than 30 local businesses with stalls, as well as much in the way of entertainment.

‘I am looking forward to meeting the bubble fairy princess and eating cake’ Autumn-Rayne, aged five, said.

The function room will host the pop up coffee shop, the coffee machine for which was donated by Westmatic who are sponsoring the event.

Elsewhere, a bouncy castle, facepainting, hair braiding, and a bake off competition.

‘I like thinking of ideas to make arrangements, my favourite this year is the bake off competition’ Tallulah-Kiwi, aged ten, said.

There is still time to sign up for children’s baking competition.

Ten-year-old Millie-Rose McCamley will be cutting off more than 12 inches of her hair on the day donating it to the Princess Trust, a charity providing real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer.

Millie-Rose was herself surprised with a wonderful ballon arrangement from Three Little Kiwis for her tenth birthday.

‘I’m looking forward to have my hair cut shorter and I feel happy that I am able to give my hair to children who have unfortunately lost there’s due to illnesses’ Millie-Rose said.
