A MAN was arrested this afternoon, Thursday, on suspicion of drink/drug-driving after a crash in Newton Abbot.

Emergency services were called to Jetty Marsh Road, near the town’s hospital, at around Noon after a car had crashed into traffic lights.

A police spokesperson said: ‘Police were called at 12pm to Jetty Marsh Road, following reports that a vehicle had collided with traffic lights.

'A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drink/drugs. He remains in police custody at this time.

'The vehicle has been recovered and the road was reopened at around 1.20pm.'
