A LOVE Volunteering event at Newton Abbot’s Tesco store gave people the chance to find out how they can help provide vital volunteering services to make a real difference in their local community.

Janette Parker, community champion at Tesco Newton Abbot, said: ‘We had a lot of interest shown as Tesco Newton Abbot hosted a Love Volunteering event.

‘We invited voluntary organisations to have a stall at the store to raise awareness and recruit volunteers.

‘Voluntary organisations are providing vital services and activities in our communities. Services which keep our communities healthy.

‘They deal with such issues as social isolation, fitness, health, and poverty. None of which can happen without volunteers generously giving of their time.

‘Volunteering is a great way of meeting new people, gaining, and sharing skills and most of all being part of building a healthy community.

Janette said there is still time for any groups looking to recruit volunteers to get in touch and have a stall at the event.
