Apologies if I sound like a broken record but I feel the need to point out (yet again!) that one of the reasons holding women back from standing for election to local councils is the lack of affordable and available childcare.
In a letter in last week's paper Cllr MacGregor seemed to think it the fault of Council Leader Cllr Martin Wrigley that fewer women were elected to TDC this year than in 2019.
I have no idea what the Lib Dem national policy is with regard to encouraging more women candidates.
What I do know however, is that of the five TDC Lib Dem councillors representing Dawlish three of them are female.
A look at the traditional gender role of women in our society and how their needs are NOT being met might account for the lack of female councillors rather than any allegedly implied attitudes held by Cllr Wrigley.
