Teignbridge BMX star Kye Forte has electrified the extreme sports community by smashing the world high jump record.
Kye, 30, cleared 6.4 metres (21ft) during the attempt in Bristol on July 28 using ramps made in Kingsteignton by his brother and fellow professional rider, Leo.
His achievement prompted an immediate response from BMX fans with specialist websites and publications worldwide reporting the news.
The previous record had stood at 5.6m and was broken with family, friends and officials from Guinness World Records looking on at the second of the three attempts Kye was allowed.
