A KINGSTEIGNTON man decided to do something a bit different to celebrate his 75th birthday.

Family and friends numbering close to 100 packed the hall of the Royal British Legion for James Doyle’s birthday party.

But it was not your typical birthday bash, for James had asked for donations to be made to Rowcroft Hospice, rather than gifts.

All in all, more than £1000 was raised, with the cheques being presented to a representative of Rowcroft on June 24.

The hospice charity was chosen by James for it had helped his wife.

‘A massive thank you to everybody who helped make this possible’ James said.
