A WOMAN arrested for suspected child neglect, youths fighting in the street and a man exposing himself in a park…
These were some of the Newton Abbot incidents reported during the police’s live Tweetathon that ended at 3am this morning, Saturday.
After 12 hours and handling 644 calls to the police 999 service, the Control Room ended its ‘Tweetathon’ saying: ‘That’s it for #ControlRoomLIVE!
‘Over the past 12 hours we’ve handled 644 calls to 999 and 220 calls to secondary 101 call handling, posting updates on 587 incidents!’

Among the first calls received was concern expressed about a man exposing himself in a Newton Abbot park.
The police tweeted: ‘999 – Call received to reports of a man sitting on a bench indecently exposing himself and touching himself inappropriately in a public area of Newton Abbot. The man has now left the area but officers have been dispatched.’ #ControlRoomLIVE
Later, at around 10pm, they recorded that a Newton Abbot woman had been arrested on suspicion of child neglect.
They tweeted that a 101 call was made by a woman to report a concern for the welfare of a seven-year-old boy out on his own in Newton Abbot.
‘Officers attended and located the boy, who had been told to walk home alone.
‘Woman arrested on suspicion of child neglect.

Two stabbings were recorded, one in Exeter and one in Plymouth.
Dangerous driving has been reported on the A380 at Newton Abbot.
Police have tweeted: ‘999 – Report of dangerous driving on the A380 in Newton Abbot. Details logged and enquiries ongoing.’ #ControlRoomLIVE
There were reports of a fight in the street in Dawlish at around 2am. Police attended to this.
Among the last incidents covered was a report of a serious sexual assault on a woman in South Devon. Police are still investigating this.
