NEWTON Abbot's annual carnival procession on Saturday was another success with more than 30 groups entering.

Ipplepen entry Joseph won The Spectacular, Topical or Humorous Float section, with South Brent's Tiger Falls runner-up.

The Visiting Royalty class is always closely contested and Saturday was no exception with Dawlish (The Spirit of the Wood) edging it, while Totnes (The Land of the Rising Sun) scooped the Best Carnival Queen and Best Attendants classes.
