NEWTON Abbot and District Musical Comedy Society (NADMCS) has once again dazzled audiences with a triumphant, sold-out run of Legally Blonde The Musical in the town’s Alexandra Theatre.
After a long-awaited return to the stage, NADMCS were thrilled to bring this vibrant, fun-filled musical to life in front of enthusiastic, packed houses, receiving rave reviews and heartwarming praise from the community.
Legally Blonde The Musical showcased the incredible talents of local performers, who worked tirelessly to embody the energy, wit, and charm of the beloved characters. With high-energy choreography and a toe-tapping musical score, the show offered an unforgettable experience that had audiences laughing out loud and leave feeling uplifted.
‘We were overjoyed by the community’s response to the show,’ said director Claire Holden.
‘Watching each performance, I was filled with emotion and deep gratitude for this beautiful, historic theatre. It’s hard to imagine that The Alexandra was once at risk of being "gutted." We’re so fortunate that Scott Cinemas has allowed us to bring live entertainment back to this remarkable theatre. ‘
Live theatre is more than just entertainment, it’s a powerful and irreplaceable art form that brings people together, a view that Claire certainly agrees with.
It offers us a chance to escape the stresses of life and immerse ourselves in stories that move and inspire us,’ she continued. ‘It’s a place where local talent shines, where creativity flourishes, and where we share moments that remind us of our common humanity.’
‘As the final curtain closed on this unforgettable production, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to this show’s success, from the incredible production team, talented cast and dedicated crew to the supportive families, friends, and community members who joined us in celebrating the magic of this wonderful musical. I had the best time directing this production and it will forever hold a special place in my heart’.
The production marks an exciting chapter for NADMCS as they are thrilled to bring their annual pantomime, Robin Hood and The Babes in the Wood, back to The Alexandra Theatre in January 2025.
