Dawlish Royal British Legion Club has a coup for Burns Night – Madonna!
Actually, she is internationally-known tribute artist Cara.
But the entertainer plays only three British Legion venues per year – and Dawlish has been chosen as her first for 2003.
Club entertainments manager Chris Moyse said it was doubly appropriate that Cara would be performing as Madonna on Burns Night because Madonna had connections with Scotland.
Club members will get first refusal on tickets – the Burns Night entertainment is a thank-you to them for working and supporting the entertainments committee during the year, said Chris – but if any are spare the public can snap them up.
They will be £6.99, which includes haggis, tatties (potatoes), neeps (swede) and a wee dram of whisky.
Cara spent six years entertaining residents and holidaymakers in Tenerife, Spain, and also ran a nightclub for six months.
She also performs as Cher, a tribute performance which saw her win a television spot on Michael Barrymore's My Kind Of People singing If I Could Turn Back Time.
