THE great and the good from Bovey Tracey Fire Station helped rescue a dog from a property where a kitchen appliance had caught fire.
Alongside colleagues from Ashburton and Torquay, firefighters from Bovey Tracey found smoke and flames coming from the rear of the property on arrival.
And, although the occupants were not home, the family dog was inside the property, which prompted a breathing apparatus team to quickly deploy a hose reel - the dog was soon rescued, and was then treated using pet oxygen therapy.
Crews were able to remove the appliance and ensured that the fire had not spread by carrying out an inspection using small tools and a thermal imaging camera - the house was then cleared of smoke using PPV fan equipment.
