This weekend will be an hour shorter as the UK enters British Summer Time (BST).

Clocks will skip an hour at 1am on Sunday March 30 so mums will only have 23 hours to celebrate Mother’s Day.

British Summer Time, also known as Daylight Saving Time, will mean evenings will be lighter.

The sun will not set until 7.43pm on Sunday evening compared with 6.41pm on Saturday evening.

Clocks will revert back to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) on Sunday October 26.

The UK adopted daylight saving time in 1916 to make the most of the increased summer daylight hours.

While most modern clocks automatically adapt to the time change, don’t forget to check older timepieces.
