A TEIGNBRIDGE town council is looking for donations to help with covering the cost of Christmas lights.
A new Christmas lights display is coming to Buckfastleigh.
The town council has appointed contractors, who will be responsible for their installation and maintenance, and are now at the stage to ask for donations.
The estimated installation will be approximately £20,000.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by councillor John Bailey.
The page reads: ‘Hi, on behalf of Buckfastleigh, the Town Council, businesses, trade, residents and the visiting community, we want to raise funds to assist in providing Christmas lighting to the Town Centre, to replace the old redundant and damaged lighting which is now beyond safe use.
‘Illuminated hanging balls, festoon lighting for the tree and projected Christmas festive sign and welcome message.
‘Our Town would be a sad place this coming Christmas without this.
‘If you agree please donate freely, any small amount will help.
‘For further information on the new scheme, please contact the Town Hall and view the lovely proposals!
‘Everyone will benefit from the ‘feel good’ factor that this will bring to Buckfastleigh!
