POLICE are appealing for witnesses after vandals destroyed eight trees planted by primary school children in Teignmouth.

Reports were received that the trees were wrecked by someone entering the school grounds at Hazeldown Primary School.

Officers say the trees were cut down with a saw.

The vandalism is said to have happened at the school grounds in Maudlin Drive over the school holidays sometime between Sunday August 21 and Wednesday August 24.

A police spokesman said: ‘All eight trees, planted by the school children, have been destroyed by someone entering the school grounds and cutting them down using a saw.

‘We ask that members of the community, particularly those who live near to the school, report any trespassers.’
