A SECONDARY school in Newton Abbot has confirmed one of its pupils has tested positive for Covid-19.

In an open letter on its Facebook page addressed to parents and carers, Coombeshead Academy said that a student in Year 11 had tested positive for the virus and that the school had been notified of the case on Sunday and was following instructions from Public Health England.

As a precaution, all Year 11 pupils were told to stay at home today (Monday). The school has identified students who have been in close contact with the positive case and as a result a number of Year 11 students have been advised they will need to self isolate for 14 days.
