PATIENTS, staff and doctors celebrated the completion of a £130,000 expansion of Buckland Surgery, Newton Abbot.

The surgery, which now has 3,000 patients, had faced closure last year following the retirement of the practice’s founder Jill Millar.

But with the support of patients and a team of staff, new lead GP Dr Lucinda Harris (pictured left) successfully applied for funding from NHS England, which paid for two thirds of the cost, the extended surgery has now brought in more patients.

To mark the success of the project and the future success of the surgery, an open day was held for patients to see the new facilities.

These include three new consulting rooms and increased administrative space.
