In Kingsteignton extremely well , it appears
Green-fingered winners of the Kingsteignton in Bloom 2024 competition were awarded cups, prizes and certificates for their horticultural dexterity at the end of last month in a ceremony at the Community Hall, attended by the judges mayor Cllr Ron Peart and Cllr Martin Field.
This year’s competition was open to residents of all ages, educational establishments and businesses and included fifteen categories to enter which included a new one for 2024 - ‘Best Wildlife Garden’, which proved to be very popular.
First prize winners of each category received a cup, garden centre voucher and certificate, while second and third placed prize winners received a voucher and a certificate. All other entrants received a Letter of Thanks.
Mayor Ron Peart thanked everybody for entering the competition and for attending the presentation.
Best Garden of the Year – Shirley Stewart (also winner of the Best Small Garden, Best Group of Hanging Baskets /Window Boxes / Best Group of Containers)
Best Senior Citizens Large Garden – Barrington Heath, (also winner of the Best Wildlife Garden)
Best Large Garden – Darrell and Amanda King
Best Senior Citizens Small Garden – Sue Welland
Best Single Hanging Basket or Window Box – Jo and John Payne
Best Single Container – Amanda Westaway
Best Vegetable Garden – Patrick Hooper
Best Recycled/Reclaimed Garden – Laura Hutchings
Best Garden for Primary Schools, Preschools, Nurseries and Childminders – Rydon Primary School – Joshua Horton
Best Commercial Property – Royal British Legion – Annette & Jeff Bibbings
Best Children’s Garden – Elloisa Lock
Best Children’s Container – Phoebe Dodd
