A GLEANING group have ensured the last batch of a local farmer's leeks made its way to an Ashburton-based community fridge.

Volunteers from Ashburton Community Fridge took full advantage of the weekend's weather by picking the last of local farmer Lloyd's crop of leeks, which the supplied the fridge behind Ashburton town hall.

A spokesman for Ashburton Community Fridge said: 'Thanks once more to Lloyd for making this possible.'
