A PIRATES of the Curry Bean production by Bovey Tracey Primary School raised funds for a local arts charity.
Year Five and Six children performed their play to parents and friends and, at the end of each performance, a collection was made for The Helen Foundation and PTA funds.
Headteacher Louise Prywata then invited trustees of The Helen Foundation to give an assembly about their work.
Following the assembly Year Five pupil Mia Clewer presented £110 to Roger Kirk, chairman of the foundation. Mia was chosen because of her outstanding acting talents.
Earlier this year she performed in the Northcott Theatre as the little daughter in The Herbal Bed.
Roger said: ‘Bovey Primary has regularly benefited from subsidies from The Helen Foundation to help it run exciting arts projects at the school and we’re delighted to accept this donation to assist with the Foundation’s work.
‘Mia presented the donation with impressive poise and confidence and we wish her and all the pupils and staff at the school a very successful year.’
