A Developer transforming the old Cardew Pottery site on the edge of Bovey Tracey has confirmed it can no longer afford to make 40 per cent of the new homes affordable.
Strategic Land Partnerships has permission to build up to 96 dwellings on the understanding it would make 38 of them available through rental or shared ownership schemes.
But late last year the firm warned the economic slowdown meant it would have to lower its sights.
At the time, development manager Tim Baker said: 'Yes, we did promise to deliver 40 per cent affordable homes but the truth is we started this process four years ago and we were living in a different world then.'
