FIREFIGHTERS are warning of possible disruption ahead of training exercise.

Buckfastleigh Fire Station will be holding a large training exercise on Wednesday, October 23, in the Buckfast Road and Strawberry Fields area.

The purpose of the exercise, which will last from 6pm until around 10pm, is to test procedures for dealing with a large fire.

While the station has said they intend to keep disruption to a minimum, there will be two areas where firefighting hose will cross a road, these being on Buckfast Road near to the entrance to the quarry and also from the entrance to Strawberry Fields on Dartbridge Road.

The station will provide hose ramps.

‘If you are able to find alternative routes that would be very much appreciated’ said a spokesman for Buckfastleigh Fire Station.

‘Apologies for any inconvenience this fire exercise may cause and thank you in advance for driving with extra care whilst firefighters and other agencies are working in the area’ the spokesman added.
