CREWS from Newton Abbot fire station held their annual charity car wash for the Firefighters’ Charity and raised more than £2,000.

On their Facebook page the crew says: ‘We started the day off at 9.30am with cars already queuing and waiting for us to open up. Crews worked tirelessly all day cleaning what certainly felt like hundreds of cars.

‘When the day was finished and the hoses were away, we managed to total up an amazing £2,114 in donations – a Newton Abbot Fire Station record.

‘We would like to thank everyone who came to the car wash to donate money to our charity.’

This total will certainly help the firefighters’ charity continue with their work supporting firefighters and their families in times of need.

‘We would also like to thank Autoglym for sponsoring our event and supplying vehicle wash.

‘Thanks is also due for B&Q who supplied us with buckets and sponges.

‘Finally, we would also like to pass on our thanks to Kimmy’s food vendor who is based out of the B&Q car park. Your donation of food to our crews was greatly received.
