Firefighters from Teignmouth, Dawlish and Torquay were called to a hardware shop in Teignmouth on Saturday (November 9) after a fire was spotted in the doorway.

Crews used breathing apparatus, a safety jet, a positive pressure ventilation fan and small tools to deal with the fire at Teign Hardware on Brunswick Street

‘The cause is believed to be accidental,’ a Devon Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

Teign Hardware has closed following the fire. ‘We regret to inform you that we will be closed until further notice,’ a spokesperson from Teign Hardware said. ‘We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding at this time. Thanks for your support.’
