SUPERB teamwork, staying calm under pressure and using their expertise in emergency situations – our firefighters impressed local journalists.

Jordan Leaman, Newton Abbot Fire Station Watch Manager, invited Mid-Devon Advertiser editor Nick Knight and reporters Julian Barnes and Ethan Heppell along to an emergency drill of the town’s Firefighters at Gilpins breaker’s yard just outside Chudleigh Knighton.

After a safety briefing for the trio, Jordan placed Julian and Nick in cars as live ‘casualties’, while Ethan recorded the proceedings.

Both Newton Abbot’s fire appliances and support vehicle descended and took control of the crash scene involving three vehicles, with one on its roof.
