FIREFIGHTERS in Buckfastleigh will be weighed down in full firefighting apparatus in a show of support for their colleague Brett Easterbrook in the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon.
On their Facebook page the town’s Firefighters are urging him: ‘Hurry Up Brett!’
They warn: ‘On Sunday you might see a bunch of us firefighters walking around Buckfastleigh in full fire fighting kit including Breathing Apparatus sets but don’t panic we are completing a sponsored walk in support of our colleague Brett Easterbrook who is running the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon to raise money to fight the cruel and indiscriminate Motor Neurone Disease.
‘Brett is running in memory of much loved local man Shawn Tubby and we will be walking in honour of Shawn and in memory of Firefighter Eddy Forbes who also battled this cruel disease.
‘We will be walking in this heavy kit for the full duration that Brett will be running the marathon so please HURRY UP BRETT!
‘A big thanks to the Globe Inn who have been a big supporter to this challenge.
‘So if you see us stop and say “Hi” as we would love to see you and if you see us walking into the Globe it’s a water stop only!
‘You can support Brett if you wish too by visiting the below link and I’m sure we will have a collection tin as we walk let’s give MND a black eye x.’
