Teignmouth Farmers’ market is ready and more than willing this Saturday (July 27 ) to help you fire up your barbeque with deliciousness whether it be on the beach, in the back garden or even under the grill.
Look out for locally produced lamb and beef burgers from Beardon Farm’s pastel blue horse box or a selection of game sausages from Stanbury Game. Put them on a bap from Bread of Devon and the menu is half done.
If you want something a bit classy, why not start with fresh hand dived scallops? They only need a flash fry on a kebab stick whilst you wait for the burgers. Put together a salad from Shillingford Organics or buy a vegan version from Veggie Deli.
Dartmoor Chilli Farm is guesting at this market with their range of chilli sauces from rubs and hot pickles to chutneys and sweeter things like chilli chocolate. Choose your own fire power with care.
If it is a picnic on the moors, get a couple of pies or quiches from Red Earth Kitchen .After that you only need a bite of something sweet to round off your meal with something from Pat-a-Cake like their cake in a jar ready for easy packing into your picnic basket or a delicious Italian morsel from Pesto.
That only leaves the question of what to drink. Try a cold cider from Black Rabbit or if you do go with the scallops, try a crisp white wine from Huxbear.
The summer is so short, particularly this year, so make the most of every moment. Support your local farmers at the Triangle every last Saturday of the month between 10 am and 2 pm. Don’t forget the napkins and make sure you take everything home again: grill, ashes and any leftovers.
