FIRE broke out in a Newton Abbot launderette this afternoon, Monday.

Town and Country Launderette and Dry Cleaners at Haldon Rise, Buckland Road, sustained smoke damage in the blaze that broke out on Monday afternoon.

These pictures were taken shortly before 4pm when firefighters from Newton Abbot and Torquay dealt with the incident.

Fire Control reports they used breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and one safety jet.

There were no injuries and firefighters checked neighbouring properties before leaving.

The cause of the fire was reported to be accidental.
