DEVON Air Ambulance has received a massive boost of more than £11,000 thanks to its Bovey Tracey supporters.
The Bovey Tracey Friends of Devon Air Ambulance held their final fundraising event of the year where they announced their total was £11,717.52, described by the medical charity as ‘mind-blowing’.
The group meets every Wednesday and enjoys support from the local community at popular bingo events which are how most of the money is raised.
Monthly prize bingo sessions are also held and funds are also raised through holding collections and attending events.
Group leader Kelly Hayman Bruce said: ‘We are so lucky to have an amazing group of friends who get together and help put on these fun bingo evenings, since we have been raising money for Devon Air Ambulance, so many people have come along and shared with us what the charity means to them.
‘It is such a worthwhile cause and knowing we are helping someone in Devon, means so much to us all.’
Jo-Anne Rigby, acting head of fundraising for Devon Air Ambulance, said: ‘ As a local charity who rely on the goodwill and generosity of the people of Devon, we are so lucky to have Kelly and her friends work so hard to raise such a phenomenal amount.
‘We could not provide the service that we do, without people coming together and raising much needed funds.
‘Thank you so much to everyone who puts on these amazing bingos and every person who goes along, your support is very much appreciated.
‘Special thanks go to Highweek primary school for providing the venue and the lovely caretaker who looks after the group so well.’
The group meets on Wednesdays at Highweek Primary School with eyes down at 7pm and all are welcome.
A cheque was presented to Devon Air Ambulance at the school.
