TEIGNBRIDGE Council has agreed to spend up to £100,000 luring a major weekend music festival to the area.
Exeter City Council has approved match funding for the same amount, and the two authorities are in negotiation with a promoter to stage the event, which is expected to feature top acts.
It would be a major boost to the local economy, giving local young people the chance to see groups and soloists who rarely come to the area.
Teignbridge leader Cllr Jeremy Christophers described it as ‘a spectacular summer event’, but full information about the festival has been kept under wraps by the two authorities, because it is feared that if the exact details are revealed, it could mean the event being switched to another area.
