NOURISH Festival handed money back to one of its sponsors following donations in the run-up to the event.

The craft, food and music event at Bovey Tracey successfully applied for a grant from The Helen Foundation, which supports the aspirations of young people in the arts across Teignbridge.

The money was used towards a series of day-long workshops including a performance at Bovey Tracey School by Fontanella, a renowned saxophone quintet, which the children loved.

In the lead up to the festival, key organiser Ian Wellens, who runs The Cheese Shed business in Bovey Tracey, invited his online customers to donate to The Helen Foundation when making purchases.

Customers responded very positively and Ian doubled their contribution, creating a total of £700.

The cheque was presented by Mr Wellens to two of the foundation’s trustees, Helen’s parents Annie and Roger Kirk.

Chairman Roger Kirk said: ‘This was a remarkable outcome of terrific enterprise and real generosity by The Cheese Shed and its customers. Trustees of the charity are truly grateful for the support.’
