AN independent tyre dealership and garage in Newton Abbot has ceased trading and will close its doors by the end of the day.

Buyrite Tyres, a family-run, independent tyre dealer established in 1977, is to close.

The company is based out of premises in Brunel Industrial Estate.

Company director Raymond Avis, known as Ray, brought the company to Newton Abbot after first starting out in Kingsteignton.

The reason behind the closure is not clear, though the company’s reputation couldn't be more clear.

A social media post to the Spotted Newton Abbot page on Facebook garnered close to 200 comments from the company’s customers, all of whom recounted their positive experience of having dealt with Buyrite over the years.

The company’s phone line, while still active, plays an automated message upon receiving a call.

The message says: ‘Buyrite Tyres has ceased trading.

‘We will close our doors at the end of the day on Thursday, January 23.

‘Previous mechanical work will be completed this week.

‘Our contact email is [email protected]

‘We will answer as many calls as possible, but we have switched off our answering service.

‘We would like all of our customers, some going back for many years.’
