SANTA had better watch out where he parks in Newton Abbot in future as he’ll get a ticket!
In a letter to this week's Mid-Devon Advertiser, Mr L Smith, slates the town's keen traffic wardens or enforcement officers:
‘I went down to the Newton Abbot War Memorial service to pay my respects like many others.
‘I was on the other side of the road with a few more people. The Last Post had just finished for the two minutes’ silence, when an old chap who stood just behind me said: ‘So much for paying respect.’
‘A traffic warden came walking down past the Post Office, she was checking the parked cars. How right he was.
‘Then on Sunday, November 20, I was walking my dog. I noticed a traffic warden near Asda car park booking two cars, the time: 7am.
‘What I would like to ask is are the traffic wardens on shift work or what time do they start work? Is it just another way the council squeezes more revenue out of the motorist?
‘A few months ago I saw the same thing – a car being booked on Sunday morning, 7.15am at the back of Austin’s and the former M&S shops in East Street.
‘Santa had better watch where he parks his sleigh in future!
