AWARD-WNNING stand-up comedian, writer and actor Tony Burgess will headline the month’s Teignmouth Comedy Club performance on May 12 at the town’s Pavilions entertainment venue.
With his instantly engaging stage persona, Tony weaves fantastic gags into sometimes surreal stories about northern family life, which for over 25 years has proved a hit with the crowds on the UK comedy circuit.
He was the winner of the prestigious City Life Comedian of the Year (other winners include John Bishop and Peter Kay), came runner up in So You Think You’re Funny, and was nominated for best stand up and writer at the North West comedy awards.
Tony’s been a regular compere of the long-established Frog and Bucket Comedy club for over 20 years, a founder member of the weekly topical show at the Comedy Store in Manchester and has supported household names like Johnny Vegas on National Theatre tours.
Also featured in the evening will be Kevin Precious who has performed variously at most of the top clubs in the country. and Charmian Hughes who started out her working life in advertising- but was catapulted into the world of stand-up comedy after a witty slogan offended a client instead of delighting them.
Holding the evening all together all be resident MC Tom Glover. Tickets are priced £12.50 in advance, or £14.50 on the door from 7pm on the night. The laughter starts at 8pm.
