RYDON Primary School had a visit from the local Tesco ‘community champion’, to see how they’d spent their Tesco Groundwork Bags of Help grant.

The school was awarded £8,000 from the supermarket’s scheme earlier in the year, which it spent developing a forest school where the children can build dens and mud pies.

Janette Parker, of Kingsteignton’s Tesco Superstore, visited the new forest school site in the school grounds.

The forest school area has been developed to form an enchanted magical outdoor learning experience that helps let the childrens’ imagination run wild.

Headteacher Nick Banwell said: ‘Forest school sessions are timetabled into the school week and school curriculum and have quickly become part of what we do at Rydon.’

Janette Parker said: ‘The children so obviously look forward to their sessions at the forest school and it has been great to be involved in the Year Two children’s imaginative and creative play. I’ve helped in the mud kitchen, den building, creating a fairy house, climb trees and enjoyed circle time.’
