A PERFORMANCE by a local theatre company set the stage for pupils’ own productions.
Year 6 pupils at Moretonhampstead Primary School welcomed theatre company MED Theatre to their school for an enthralling play based on the lives of Devon folk during WW2.
Following this MED Theatre led a play writing workshop over an eight week period, culminating in a series of WW2-based performances written and staged by the pupils of Moretonhampstead.
For one pupil the workshop was more than just learning about stage craft.
‘The MED Theatre workshops have given me so much more confidence and I can’t wait to do more in secondary school.’
The plays were performed in front of fellow pupils and teachers and was also video recorded allowing for parents to enjoy their work.
The workshop was funded by The Helen Foundation, an arts-based charity seeking to support and motivate young people in Teignbridge, and was in partnership with Daisi – an educational charity working across Devon that encourages arts development among young people.
