Pupils at All Saints Marsh C of E Academy, which forms part of the Learning Academy Partnership, are celebrating their success during the ‘Rainbow Run Schools Challenge’, for raising £400 for the Children’s Hospice South West.

On the day, pupils and staff came into school dressed in their most colourful outfits, representing all the different colours of the rainbow. All the children and the staff went above and beyond in sporting their colourful outfits with some wearing rainbow tutus and others even dying their hair crazy colours. The school had turned into a sea of rainbows.

Throughout the day the school also held a competition with prizes awarded for those who were the most colourful, who did the most laps, the best team player and the best supporter.

Schools across the region took part in the ‘Rainbow Run’ in celebration of the hospice’s 30th anniversary. The final goal was to reach 30,000 kilometres, while also raising money for and awareness of the hospice that does a lot of important work for children in the area.  

During the day the pupils were being supported and cheered on by their peers and the staff who came to watch the running.

In total, All Saints Marsh ran an impressive 89km and raised a tremendous £400 for Children’s Hospice South West. 

The challenge was the perfect opportunity to bring those across the school together to raise money for a worthwhile cause; the pupils were also able to demonstrate real courage and perseverance in running as far as they did. The cheers could be heard right across Newton Abbot!

The whole day had been dedicated to having fun, in between running and cheering on their friends, the pupils had a chance to play with giant bubbles and bubble guns which added to the celebration atmosphere and created a lot of smiles. 

The Learning Academy Partnership provides a first-class education to its pupils across the South West, and has done so since it was founded almost 10 years ago. The Trust is rated the best Multi Academy Trust in the country for the performance of disadvantaged children and in the Top 10 Trusts nationally for the progress that children make.

Julie Edwards, Head of Academy at All Saints Marsh said: ‘I am so proud of the children for their commitment and compassion to support such a worthy cause. Some of the children were unsure how many laps they would be able to run but by supporting each other they showed real determination; showing our values of courage and perseverance to keep going and achieving those extra kilometres!

‘In our trust family of schools, we encourage our children to think about how they can contribute to wider society and make a positive impact on others. This event is a great example of how supporting others, in turn, developed children’s confidence and improved their self-esteem. We are also committed to encouraging our children to be physically active and to enjoy participating in activities that challenge them but also get them outside in the fresh air and most importantly having fun!”

Kiley Pearce, events fundraiser at CHSW said: ‘I want to say a massive thank you to all those who were a part of our Rainbow Run School’s Challenge, the enthusiasm from the parents and staff really added to the atmosphere of the day and helped us raise money that will be used to support children in need all over the South West.’
