IT is reported that former pop star Gary Glitter has been transferred to a Newton Abbot prison.

The 80-year-old, whose real name is Paul Gadd, had been serving his sentenced at HMP The Verne in Dorset prior to being moved to HMP Channings Wood, at Denbury, the Mid-Devon Advertiser understands.

Gadd rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s, before being convicted of a string of sexual offences, including attempted rape.

In 2015, he was found guilty of one count of attempted rape, one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13, and four counts of indecent assault.

He was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

While the Ministry of Justice does not confirm the locations of prisoners, relocations of inmates is not uncommon.
