Children in Shaldon should be able to play in an exciting new play park this Easter after work to replace the tired old play area in the village’s King George V playing fields began last week.
The old play equipment has now been removed and mechanical diggers are preparing the grounds for new apparatus. Work will also take place to make the park itself less muddy and to replace the fence around the play park with a brand new wooden one.
The £105,000 play park renovation costs were generated after the Parish Council’s play park committee approached local and national charitable trusts and other grant awarding bodies and launched a fundraiser with generous donations from local businesses and the general public.
Shaldon Parish Council took over the running of the King George V park at the end of 2022.
