TEMPERATURES are falling rapidly tonight (Tuesday Feb 27th) as the Big Freeze starts to take a hold on Devon.
With temperatures hovering just above freezing point for most of the day there have been some unusual winter sights as we approach the first Spring month of March.
The fountain at the entrance to Trago Mills had frozen over this morning and resembled a fantastic ice sculpture and on the upper tidal reaches of the River Teign ice had formed in and around the reed beds.
Meanwhile, at Stover County Park , the lakes had also started to freeze over - much to the confusion of the resident waterfowl and visiting gullls.
Devon County Council’s fleet of gritting lorries are out treating the roads tonight with the warning of a significant snow risk from the early hours of Wednesday morning
