POLICE have charged a Devon County councillor with three historic sexual assault offences.

Brian Greenslade, a former leader of the authority, has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Exeter between June 2005 and January 2006.

He also faces charges of an indecent assault on a woman in Exeter between January 1994 and December 1995 as well as a similar offence on another woman in Barnstaple during the same time period.

Cllr Greenslade, of Marwood, is set to appear before magistrates in Barnstaple on April 8.
