CANNY composters at Denbury Primary School have come up trumps when it comes to doing their bit for the planet and reducing their food waste.
The youngsters have been recognised for their achievements by being judged the most impressive composting school out of eight across Newton Abbot.
For their 'excellent' use of composting equipment and involvement of children throughout the school, they were presented with a certificate and a £50 garden centre voucher.
All the schools took part in the Devon County Council-funded composting in schools project which aimed to encourage them to reduce the amount of food waste sent to landfill.
Each school was provided with different composters which are insulated and sealed units into which they can put waste fruit and vegetable peelings and cooked food.
