A £33,000 project came to fruition when a new and improved playground was opened at Hennock Primary School on Friday.
Guests including parish and district councillors watched as county Cllr Jerry Brook officially opened the park.
The area, which used to slope due to being on a hill above the Teign Valley, has been levelled off and has been created in memory of Jane Palmer.
Mrs Palmer, mother of Geoffrey and George, both pupils at the school, died in a riding accident at the family farm in 2006.
She was an active parent helping to create the school's wildlife garden and pod and a regular helper at the Hennock Playgroup.
