FENCER David Stewart-Watson has been selected for the England team to compete in the UK School Games, being part of the four-man epee team.
The games are being held in Cardiff between September 3 and 6.
There are ten different sports included this year – athletics, badminton, fencing, gymnastics, hockey, judo, swimming, track cycling, table tennis and volleyball.
There are disability events in athletics, swimming and table tennis, which increases the athletes competing in 2009 to more than 1,500, representing the four home countries – England, Scotland,Wales and Northern Ireland.
The four-day event has been set up to replicate the feeling of competing at the Olympics or Commonwealth Games.
Stewart-Watson, is currently the Great Britain U17 National Champion and has represented GB 12 times at U17s' and U20s' level.
In March, he was part of the Great Britain team that competed in the European Championships.
He first started fencing at Moretonhampstead Primary School and then at the Newton Abbot and Totnes club.
He now trains twice a week in Plymouth, as well as doing fitness training at school.
